Croly once asked me if I had read a certain book. I said, `Yes, I had reviewed it.' `What!' he exclaimed, `do you read the books you review?' `Yes,' I replied, `as a rule I do.' `That's wrong,' replied the Doctor, `it creates a prejudice.'
