Peter was a very pretty boy, but felt embarrassed if anyone told him so. He thought only girls should be pretty.

"Well what do you think boys should be?" said his mother.

"They should be...." He didn't know! He wouldn't like to be plain or ugly .

"Oh, well, Mum, anyone might as well be good to look at, if there 's nothing else to be, boy or girl ."
