Mr. Ford

Charles Ford, of Woodpark, near Dublin, a member of Swift's inner circle. He was on intimate terms with Pope, Gay, Arbuthnot, Prior, and Parnell, and it was he who arranged for the publication of some of the most important of Swift's political tracts, and who subsequently (in 1726) conveyed to the printer the Gulliver MS. As Gazetteer at the close of Queen Anne's reign, he had opportunities of noting the progress of political events, and his letters afford information as to the intrigues which surrounded the Queen's deathbed.
