On the Monday following the seance, I received a visit from a young woman called Raven. She identified herself as being a local psychic who had been contacted by Joan in regard to the unexplained happenings in my apartment. As we sat at the very same table which had been used in the seance, she explained that Ellie was a restless spirit unwittingly lured by the creature (seen by Joan's father) into its psychic web - a dimensional void co-existing with the apartment block in a physical sense, but vibrating at a higher rate thus rendering it invisible to the naked eye. She also described three entities who had suddenly appeared in the courtyard of the apartment block. The enigmatic mysteries that had swept into my life were now joined by yet another. All three entities were dressed in long black capes, silent and staring at the window of my living room.

Raven assured me that I had nothing to fear from the strange entities, and that Ellie would never again return to haunt me. I heaved a sigh of relief. The creature was gone, I realized. And with it the ghost of little Ellie. Whatever the truth about Ellie, she ceased to appear once the creature was defeated. As for Raven, maybe the three entities dressed in black took her away with them because I never saw her again.
