Meditation is very much a part of occult practice and is particularly dominant in Eastern philosophy. The purpose of meditation is to focus the occultist's thoughts on the unknown dimensions of the human soul. Meditation is by and large a journey into the deeper levels of the human psyche, and this is what makes the study and practice of meditation so interesting. Some meditations are extremely arduous and are all but impossible to perform for none except the most dedicated, whilst other meditations are easy and quick to perform. A problem that confronts most newcomers to the use of occult meditation is trying to obtain the high degree of disassociation with the everyday world which is often such a central feature of the technique. The problem can be overcome by taking advantage of the psychic breathing exercise which I shall describe shortly. It is also useful for the newcomer to bear in mind that occult meditations conjure forces deep within one's own mind to motivate changes in circumstances, in accordance with one's wishes and desires.
There are several books on the market explaining the "how to" of occult meditations, but the reader can gain quick results by taking the following steps: sit quietly in a chair with your eyes closed. Take a few deep breaths to help you relax. Now visualize yourself seated at the center of a stone temple high atop a mountain peek. Visualize the temple around you as clearly as possible. The mental process which you are utilizing is called daydreaming, and is a natural function of the human mind. Visualize the night sky. It will be dark, and then begin to fill with streaks of lightning. Visualize the lightning striking the ground around you. Continue to meditate in this way until the air around you literally crackles with supernatural power. It is at this moment that you must focus your complete attention on what it is you wish to achieve. Allow no other thoughts to enter your mind. Concentrate completely on your desire and how the meditation will help you to achieve it. Keep that same desire in your mind until it arrives. This meditation can be employed for all and sundry purposes and with good effect.
