Prefer send if that is what you mean. Transmit has its own useful work to do which no other word can do as well. Hereditary traits may be transmitted from parent to child; light may be transmitted through glass, and power may be transmitted by means of shafts and belts. Transmit should not be put to the menial service of sending enclosures with letters.
