Note 031
by Joachim C. Fest

31 Birger Dahlerus, The Last Attempt(London, 1948). Weizsacker, Memoirs, made this private note on 28th August 1939: 'There was no room for constructive thought towards a political solution; if it appeared Herr von Ribbentrop tried to nip it in the bud.' Later Weizsacker conjectured that 'Ribbentrop's advice tipped the scales in the decision to go to war'
