Note 022
by Joachim C. Fest

Erich Gritzbach, Hermann Göring: The Man and His Work . See also Horkenbach, 1933; also Goebbels, My Part in Germany's Fight:

'Goring is cleansing Prussia with zest and courage (entry for 2nd March 1933). The fact alone that of 32 colonels of the municipal police 22 were dismissed gives an idea of the extent of these preventive measures. Hundreds of officers and thousands of ordinary policemen followed in the course of the next few month. New forces were drawn on and invariably they came from the great reservoir of the SA and SS,'

wrote Goring himself about this in Germany Reborn.
