Niobe

Ovid (Metamorphoses. 6, 152 ff.) recounts how Niobe's seven sons were all killed by Apollo's darts and her seven daughters by Diana before she herself was turned to stone as a punishment for scorning Leto, mother of Apollo and Diana.
