Aurora is the Roman goddess of the dawn identified with the Greek Eos, and she is noted for the lovers she abducted. It was the granddaughter of Aurora who obtained from Jupiter the transformation of Tithonus into a grasshopper (Ovid, Metamorphoses , 19, 576 ff. and see note.
